THE index cases in three of four new Covid-19 clusters reported today had recently travelled to Sabah.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the three clusters were known as Olive, Bah Pasir and Bah Pengkalan.
Cases linked to the Olive cluster in Selangor have been detected in Hulu Langat as well as in Kota Marudu and Penampang in Sabah.
The Olive index patient tested positive for infection on October 2 and is being treated at the Sg Buloh Hospital. Contact screening has led to the discovery of 16 more cases.
Negri Sembilan’s Bah Pasir cluster of five infections has also crossed state lines, surfacing in Putrajaya as well as in Port Dickson
The index patient in this cluster is warded at the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban. Eighty-two of the patient’s contacts were screened, eight of whom were found to be infected.
Meanwhile, the Bah Pengkalan cluster in Hulu Perak is linked to six cases.
The index patient is currently warded at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh. Of the 330 individuals screened in connection with the cluster, six have tested positive and 47 others are still awaiting their test results.
A fourth cluster known as Saguking in Labuan was reported today. Four more cases were detected after the index patient tested positive for the virus during a pre-admission screening at the Labuan Hospital.
As of noon today, 43 individuals have been screened and 35 were confirmed negative. Three are waiting for their results. – October 15, 2020.
