THOSE returning to their hometowns to avoid the conditional movement-control order (CMCO) pose a Covid-19 risk to the elderly, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah warned.
The director-general of health said those travelling to their hometowns risk spreading the virus to their areas.
“For those who want to return to their hometowns, please make sure to stay at home. But it is (still) risky for us to return to our kampung because we are not sure whether we are carriers of the virus,” he said in a virtual press conference today.
“We are supposed to protect our elders at home because at their age, they are likely to be more affected by the virus,” he added.
Noor Hisham also reminded the public to not leave their homes unless necessary.
On that note, he also reminded the public to continue to adhere to standard operating procedure at all times.
The government yesterday announced a CMCO on Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya will come into effect at midnight today after a surge in Covid-19 cases in the country.
Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said movements in and out across districts and states are only allowed for work and emergency purposes.
However, the public would need to show proof or seek approval from police before travelling.
He added that those who need to go through the states of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to other states, they are advised to obtain permission from the nearest police station before traveling. – October 13, 2020.
