BANGSAR Shopping Centre was closed for disinfection today after a retail staff tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statement, the management of the high-end mall in an upscale Kuala Lumpur suburb said they were informed of a positive case involving a retail staff at the Origani outlet on the ground floor.

“The staff was on duty on Tuesday, October 6, and at that time was not showing any symptoms. The staff has not been in BSC since,” the management said on Facebook.

The management said, Origani has closed its outlet and all staff will be screened for Covid-19.

“As a precautionary measure, BSC will temporarily close at 8pm today to undertake intensive sanitisation throughout the mall at our own accord.

“Rest assured BSC has continuously adhered to all Covid-19 regulations, observing the necessary preventive and precautionary measures.”

The management also asked patrons to be patient.

“BSC will resume its normal operation hours tomorrow,” it said.

Yesterday, Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the 1 Utama shopping mall in Petaling Jaya would also be closed for seven days from Monday to disinfect the premises and screen staff.

At least four positive Covid-19 cases have been detected at 1 Utama, involving two staff members at outlets, a mall employee and a shopper.

Last week, Paradigm Mall in Petaling Jaya said one outlet staff tested positive for Covid-19. However, only that outlet was closed for sanitation while the rest of the mall remained open. – October 11, 2020.
