SIX deaths from Covid-19 were reported today, all in Sabah, pushing the country’s death toll from the coronavirus to 152.
This is also the second day in a row that all fatalities were from Sabah, after they accounted for all five deaths reported yesterday.
Sabah also accounted for a bulk of the 354 new infections reported in the past 24 hours, with 274 cases.

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a virtual presser today that of the total new infections, 352 were local transmissions.
The new daily cases bring the national caseload to 14,722.
The six deaths were of three men and three women, all Malaysians and all in their 50s or 60s. Their deaths were reported at the Tawau, Semporna and Queen Elizabeth hospitals.
Of the six, three of the victims are known to have had chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure, with one of them also having diabetes and another had asthma.
Meanwhile, 188 patients have been discharged from the hospital after recovering from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
With this, total recoveries now stand at 10,707.
There are still 3,863 active cases, with 68 of them in the intensive care unit, of whom 25 require respiratory support.
Eight active clusters in Sabah contributed to 49 cases in the state, while 120 cases were detected through screening of close contacts.
The remaining cases in the state were linked to various screening activities.
Selangor, on the other hand, saw 24 new cases while Kedah and Sarawak reported 10 cases.
Other states which registered new cases include Kuala Lumpur (8), Penang (8), Johor (5), Terengganu (5), Negeri Sembilan (4), Putrajaya (2), Perak (1) and Labuan (1).
Meanwhile, 23 of the new cases reported today had a recent travel history to virus hotspot Sabah.
These cases were reported in Selangor (3), Kuala Lumpur (5), Labuan (1), Sarawak (10), Johor (1), Terengganu (1), Negeri Sembilan (2) and Penang (1). – October 9, 2020.
