THE Health Ministry has detected five new Covid-19 clusters, one of which is in Kuala Lumpur.
The Jalan Pantai cluster of eight infections was discovered in Lembah Pantai.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a virtual presser today the cluster was discovered when the index patient tested positive after experiencing symptoms, and is currently being treated at the Sg Buloh Hospital.
As of noon today, 15 individuals have been screened, and eight tested positive. Seven are still waiting for their test results.
Meanwhile, two more clusters were detected in Sabah.
Both clusters were detected after the index patient was confirmed positive for the virus, following screening for symptoms, just like the Jalan Pantai cluster.
The Tujuh Serangkai cluster in Tuaran reported 23 infections.
Health authorities have screened 352 individuals as of noon today, of which 302 are still waiting for their results.
The second cluster in Sabah, known as Tanamera saw, nine positive cases. The cluster was detected in Tawau and 13 individuals have been screened as of noon today.
Sarawak and Labuan reported one new cluster each. The index cases of both clusters had recently travelled to virus hotspot Sabah.
The Bah Arnab cluster in Sarawak reported four positive cases while the Bah Bangat cluster in Labuan registered nine cases. – October 8, 2020.
