DIRECTOR-GENERAL of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah will conduct his daily press briefing on Covid-19 today via livestream on Facebook, after going into quarantine.

The senior civil servant is in isolation after attending a special meeting of the National Security Council in Putrajaya on Saturday with Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Dr Zulkifli Mohamad al-Bakri. The minister later tested positive for Covid-19.

Health Ministry officials informed the media this morning about the director-general’s livestream at 5.30pm, and took questions from journalists to be forwarded to Noor Hisham.

The livestream will be on the Ministry of Health’s Facebook page.

Saturday’s meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, who last night also announced that he was quarantining himself for 14 days.

A number of other ministers also attended the meeting, while photos shared online showed that Zulkifli was not wearing a mask.

He had been in Tuaran, Sabah, on September 24, before returning to the peninsula and attending various events and meetings in several places from September 25 onwards.

Zulkifli has apologised on social media after receiving flak for not isolating himself and has urged those who attended the same events to go for screening. – October 6, 2020.
