THE Health Ministry will not recommend that schools be closed despite a spike in Covid-19 cases, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Health director-general said at a press conference in Putrajaya today, “school activities can continue, but they must follow the standard operating procedures.”
He said, for example in the Tawar cluster, there was a teacher who was tested positive.
“The teacher went back to school and there was infection. Then we recommended for the school to be closed.”
Malaysia continued to see a record Covid-19 spike, with 317 cases in the past 24 hours.
There was also a fatality reported, bringing the death toll to 137.
Today’s figures are a major increase from the 287 reported yesterday. – October 3, 2020.
