THE Health Ministry has identified three new clusters – two in Kedah and the other in Selangor.

There were a total of 17 cases from these three clusters, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He added that the index cases of both Kedah clusters had travelled to Sabah.

Noor Hisham said the Bah Lunas cluster was identified in Kulim, Kedah.

“The index case is a 35-year-old Malaysian man who returned from Sabah.

“He tested positive on September 30 and was admitted to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.

“Three more people from this cluster tested positive after close contact screening,” he said at a press conference in Putrajaya today.

On the Bah Rose cluster in Kedah, he said the index case is a 48-year-old Malaysian who travelled to Sabah.

“He tested positive on September 29 and was admitted to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.

“Seven more people from this cluster tested positive after close contact screening,” he said.

As for the Jelok cluster in Selangor, Noor Hisham said the index case was a 27-year-old Malaysian who tested positive through symptomatic individual screening on October 1 and was admitted to the Sg Buloh Hospital.

“Four more people from this cluster tested positive after close contact screening,” he said.

He said the ministry finds the trend in the number and breakdown of new positive cases today is more or less the same as reported recently, where there is still an increase in cases in the Tembok cluster.

He said Kedah had recorded 97 cases and Sabah (155), while the remaining 65 cases were reported in several other states.

“This includes 37 cases of visitors returning from Sabah detected following the screening.”

Noor Hisham said the source of infections in all three clusters are under investigation. – October 3, 2020.
