SABAH has reported yet another cluster of Covid-19 infection, bringing the number of active clusters in the state to eight.
Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the ministry is still investigating the source of infection, which has thus far reported three positive cases.
The cluster’s index patient, known as Udin, was a 72- year-old woman who tested positive for the coronavirus after undergoing screening at the Merotai Health Clinic in Tawau.
“Two more positive cases were discovered on September 22 through contact screening,” he said.
He added that both patients were Filipinos.
The two asymptomatic cases are currently being treated at the Tawau Hospital.
A total of 128 individuals have been screened as of noon today, of which 71 tested negative.
The remaining 54 individuals are still waiting for their test results.
Authorities have disinfected and sanitised locations that have had contact with individuals from the cluster.
The other clusters in Sabah are Benteng Lahad Datu, Laut, Pulau, Selamat, Bakau, Kuarters and Bangau-Bangau, all of which emerged since the beginning of this month in tandem with a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in the state. – September 23, 2020.
