45 new Covid-19 cases, 24 recoveries

MALAYSIA has recorded 45 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, of which only one was imported, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

This brings the total number of infections to 9,628, while active cases stood at 333 .

From the 44 locally transmitted cases reported today, 11 involved citizens.

The Benteng Lahad Datu cluster accounted for 40 of these cases, of which 33 involved foreigners.

The remaining four cases were detected in Kedah, where the Telaga cluster saw two new cases, with the remaining one new infection linked to the Sungai cluster.

Another case was detected through the screening of a symptomatic patient at the Simpang Kuala Health Clinic. The patient has been admitted to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.

Meanwhile, 24 patients were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours after recovering from the coronavirus.

With this, the total number of recoveries from the coronavirus now stands at 9,167.

The death toll remains at 128 with no new fatalities reported.

Nine patients are currently warded in the intensive care unit, five of whom require respiratory support. – September 10, 2020.
