THE Health Ministry’s finance department has been ordered to look into unpaid allowances for medical officers at some public hospitals, including Sg Buloh, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

“It is not affecting all hospitals but some. I was told the claims submitted were not complete,” the director-general health said at a press conference today.

“More importantly, we need to address this as soon as possible.”

He was responding to an article in health news website Code Blue that reported an anonymous letter by a medical officer who brought the matter of unpaid claims to light.

The medical officer claimed doctors have yet to receive their relocation allowance after being deployed from other hospitals to serve on the frontlines against Covid-19 at the Sg Buloh Hospital in March.

Noor Hisham said the situation was “not right” considering it affected those who were serving on the frontlines. – August 25, 2020.
