26 recoveries, 7 new Covid-19 cases

RECOVERIES from Covid-19 outnumbered new cases today 26 to seven, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

The recoveries brings the total number of those discharged from treatment for the coronavirus to 8,902.

The seven new cases, meanwhile, involved three local transmissions, all Malaysians.

“Two are from the Sala cluster and another from the Tawar cluster,” he told a press conference in Putrajaya today.

Both clusters are in Kedah.

The other four new cases involved two Malaysians and two foreigners who returned from Bangladesh and the United Kingdom.

The new cases puts the cumulative number of infections in the country at 9,219.

Meanwhile, eight positive cases being treated in intensive care, with two cases requiring respiratory assistance.

With no Covid-19 deaths reported today, the total number of fatalities to the virus in Malaysia remains at 125. – August 18, 2020.
