MACC arrests ex-Mohamaddin aide for corruption

THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a one-time aide to former tourism minister Mohamaddin Ketapi for a RM3.7 million bribe over a project involving the ministry, sources said.

MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya confirmed the arrest and said the suspect will be charged in Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old man will be brought to Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court for remand procedures later today.

Sources said the suspect has been on the run since June 10 but was arrested yesterday.

“He surrendered at the MACC headquarters yesterday and was arrested,” a source said, adding the suspect is under investigation over the RM3.7 million bribe paid by a company to secure a project under the ministry. – August 15, 2020.
