WITH no new locally transmitted Covid-19 cases reported in the last 14 days, Sarawak’s last two districts in the yellow zone have today been declared green zones.
This means Sarawak is now wholly a green state.
In the three-colour code category drawn up by the Health Ministry, an area with more than 40 positive cases detected in a week is categorised as a red zone, while an area with one to 40 cases is yellow while a green zone is an area without any positive cases.
The state Disaster Management Committee said as of today, only three people are still being treated for the deadly infection, all at Kuching General Hospital.
With the pandemic curve flattened, the committee today announced that the operating hours for all businesses in Kuching, Samarahan and Serian can return to their normal operating hours from this Saturday.
Sarawak restricted the businesses’ operating hours from 6am to 10pm from August 1 to 14 in the three districts after a brief spike in infections, raising fears of a second wave in the state.
The pandemic has claimed 19 lives in Sarawak and infected 681 people. β August 12, 2020.
