TWENTY returnees have tested positive for Covid-19 since returning to the country from July 24, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said that from July 24 up to August 7, a total of 7,364 individuals have returned through international borders.
“The 20 have been sent to hospital for treatment.
“As for the rest, they have been placed in 30 hotels and five Public Training Institutes in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Johor, Sarawak, Kelantan, Perak, Perlis and Kedah,” he said in a statement today.
Yesterday, police arrested 180 individuals for flouting recovery movement-control order guidelines.
Of that number, 16 were remanded while another 164 were compounded for attending mass gatherings with no physical distancing.
Ismail Sabri said police have put up 61 roadblocks and inspected 31,184 vehicles to curb the entry of illegal immigrants.
“Police arrested three foreign nationals for immigration offences.
“The government will take stern action against any party who tries to enter the country’s borders illegally and enforcement agencies will continue to tighten border control.” – August 8, 2020.
