SELANGOR police will seek help in identifying suspects who vandalised murals of several national leaders in Taman Cahaya Alam, Section U12, Shah Alam, said police chief Noor Azam Jamaludin.

He said the poor quality of the closed circuit television (CCTV) recording made it difficult for police to identify the suspects involved.

“This case is still under investigation. It is taking a long time because there are not many CCTVs available in the area other than the dark surroundings during the incident.

“The visual also breaks when we want to zoom in.

“So, we will send it to the professionals to get a clearer visual,” he said after an event today.

On July 20, a CCTV recording went viral showing two women believed to be responsible for damaging the murals.

The Shah Alam City Council painted over all the murals following the incident.

In another development, Noor Azam said the Selangor police yesterday issued 29 compounds on cases of failing to comply with the standard operating procedure of the recovery movement-control order.

A total 18 compounds were issued for flouting the SOP on physical distancing and conducting forbidden activities while 11 compounds were issued for not wearing face masks in public areas, he said. – Bernama, August 4, 2020.
