1 new virus case, 16 recoveries, no deaths

MALAYSIA recorded 16 Covid-19 recoveries and only one new infection as of noon today, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

No new fatalities were reported, keeping the death toll at 125.

The total number of cases is now 9,002, with overall recoveries standing at 8,684. There are 193 active cases.

Today’s sole case involved a Malaysian, who was screened for severe acute respiratory infection at the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in Perlis.

No patients are currently being treated in intensive care.

Noor Hisham also said in a statement today that it has been a month since only a single new case was reported, that being on July 1.

“The Health Ministry wishes to thank all parties involved for this accomplishment, as this is the result of hard work and cooperation among agencies and the community at large,” he said.

Noor Hisham urged the public to follow the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the government, including maintaining social distancing and personal hygiene, such as washing hands. – August 4, 2020.
