UMNO Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin urge the people to reject the false promises made by Pakatan Harapan in its bid to win the 14th general election.
He said even though the promises, such as abolishing the good and services tax (GST) and the National Higher Education Fund Corporation, sounded like they were easy to implement, that did not mean that the opposition would fullfil its promises.
“If (we) listen to the promises of the opponent, we could be Superman. We could fly, lift up a building; we could do anything.
“But in reality, it is not like that. Making promises is easy – we can promise the stars and the moon, the sun and even the galaxy.
The youth and sports minister also said that Pakatan’s false promises were only repetitions of what it says every time it wants power and votes from the people.
“But this does not mean Umno is taking the people’s problem of rising cost of living lightly,” he said.
“There are those with limited savings who are worried that something unexpected might happen. There are those who are worried about the fate of their families because their salaries remain low.
“The are those who have to sell their homes, borrow money, tighten their belts to survive.”
He said Umno and the goverment were aware of this and assured that it would take time to solve cost of living issues.
“The intervention needed will take time, from increasing incomes to building a system that offers skills or creating jobs with higher wages.
“In reality, all of these problems are legacies of the past administration, with its vision of building huge monuments but not building up its own people,” he said. – December 6, 2017.
