KHAIRY Jamaluddin today urged Pakatan Harapan chairman Dr Mahathir to prove he can easily win a two-thirds majority in the next general election with the help of social media.

The Umno Youth chief implied this was unlikey as Mahathir’s victories in past elections were mainly due to his overt control over mainstream media and the lack of alternative media back then.

“He has often beat his chest and reminded us of his successes in winning the last five elections, each time with a two-thirds majority,” Khairy said in his Youth wing speech at the Umno General Assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur today.

“Those comforting themselves in this nostalgic fairytale are forgetting that the political environment back then is different from today. The mainstream media was under full control and alternative media barely existed.

“In this day and age with the internet, blogs and all sorts of social media, I’m curious to see if he can still easily win a two-thirds majority.”

In his speech, Khairy also slammed Mahathir’s 22-year period in power, which he said only appeared to be successful but in reality, was not so. – December 6, 2017.

  • UMNO future is hopeless if KJ is the best they can offer for the future. Walking talking no political will to change.
