THE National Housing Department is studying the household income report and the new poverty line index to look into the possibility of revising prices of affordable housing to match the income of the people, said Ismail Abd Mutalib.
The deputy local government and housing minister said according to the median multiple methodology currently employed by the ministry, there are two categories of affordable housing.
They are, properties priced below RM150,000 and those priced between RM150,000 and RM300,000.
“The National Housing Department is scrutinising the household income report and the new poverty line index announced by the government recently,” he told the Dewan Rakyat today.
“We hope we can follow up the study with prices of houses that match the income of the people.”
Ismail was responding to a supplementary question by Mohd Salim Sharif (Jempol-BN) on whether the government will review the prices of affordable housing, so people are able to own such properties instead of just looking at them. – July 20, 2020.
