PUTRAJAYA will launch a campaign to encourage Malaysians to buy local and travel to domestic destinations, said Annuar Musa.
The Federal Territories minister said the government wants people to return to their routine activities with confidence now that Covid-19 is under control.
“We understand that people are still sceptical about going to public places, even after restaurants have reopened.
“We have done very well to address their concerns, but we must enhance their confidence,” he said after a walkabout in Jalan Alor, Kuala Lumpur, today.
The authorities will continue disinfection works, he added.
“We never take cleanliness and safety for granted.”
He said the campaign will be launched by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
“It aims to encourage people to go out and buy Malaysian products. We also want people to enjoy the beauty of local tourist destinations.”
Malaysia is under the recovery phase of the movement-control order (MCO) until August 31. The MCO was enforced on March 18.
Virus restrictions have been greatly eased under the recovery phase, with interstate travel allowed once more, and most businesses, including gyms, hair salons and night markets, given the nod to resume operations.
Police will continue to monitor compliance with health and safety measures such as social distancing. – July 11, 2020.
