PUTRAJAYA is allowing contact sports, such as football, rugby, hockey and sepak takraw, to resume from August 15, but without spectators.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said these sports will be allowed provided that standard operating procedures are strictly adhered to.

“The tournaments are limited to local events and championships only, without spectators and must not involve mass gatherings.

“The Malaysian Super League, Malaysian Premier League, Malaysian Hockey League and Malaysian Rugby League can operate,” he told the ministry’s press conference in Putrajaya today.

He added that for the time being, no international tournaments are allowed.

Ismail Sabri said that operators of commercial fields, futsal facilities and sports centres are also allowed to operate again.

He also said that non-contact sports are allowed but without spectators starting July 15.

“Tournaments and local competitions without spectators, such as motor sports and individual sports, are allowed.

“These includes motorcycle and car racing at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) and other local circuits.”

He added that individual games, such as badminton championships, tennis singles, gymnastic, golf and chess tournaments, are also allowed. β€“ July 10, 2020.
