NO Covid-19 cases were detected among the family members of those who underwent home quarantine after returning from abroad, Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

The Home Surveillance Order (HSO) began to be enforced just under a month ago on June 10 along with the recovery movement control order (RMCO). Under the order, travellers returning to Malaysia have to undergo 14 days of quarantine at home and no longer at government quarantine centres.

Dr Noor Hisham said the absence of infections among the families of those under HSO was a positive sign and called for full compliance to prevent the spread of infections.

“The ministry urges all travellers returning to Malaysia to continue extending their cooperation and to adhere to the conditions under the HSO, so that we can continue efforts to break the chain of Covid-19 infections,” he said in a statement.

There have been 647 Covid-19 cases among those who returned to Malaysia between April 3 and 12pm today, Dr Noor Hisham added.

The biggest bloc of the imported cases, 317 of them, was recorded between April 15 and April 28, which was during the third phase of MCO.

The lowest number of imported cases was during the fourth phase, between April 29 and May 3. Eight cases were reported during this period. – July 7, 2020.
