6 new Covid-19 cases, 5 recoveries

NEW Covid-19 cases and recoveries were almost on par today, with six new transmissions reported and five discharges.

The new infections all involved Malaysians, bringing the national tally of infections to 8,674.

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement today said four of new cases were imported, while two were locally transmitted.

One of the two locally transmitted cases was detected in Kuala Lumpur while the other was discovered in Selangor. Both cases were detected during screening at the patients’ workplace.

The five who have recovered and discharged from hospital as of noon today put the total number of recoveries at 8,481, or 97.8% of the cumulative number of cases.

Active cases, on the other hand, stood at 72. Of these, two patients are in intensive care and are on respiratory support.

No deaths were reported today, keeping the death toll at 121. – July 7, 2020.
