PENANG Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office, where he is expected to give his statement on the state’s undersea tunnel project.

This comes after three state excos were yesterday questioned by the anti-graft agency over the RM6.3 billion project. They were three-term exco Phee Boon Poh, Chong Eng (women and family development) and Jagdeep Singh Deo (local government, housing, town and country planning).

Investigations into the project intensified following the arrest of former Penang Port Commission chairman Jeffrey Chew last week. He was remanded for four days, and released on Saturday.

Corruption allegations over the project were first raised by Malaysia Today blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin in articles last year.

Former chief minister Lim Guan Eng has denied the claims, saying the project was awarded through open tender. He won a defamation suit against Raja Petra in February.
