PERIKATAN Nasional is in the midst of registering as a formal coalition, said Bersatu secretary-general Hamzah Zainuddin.
He said the parties need to find a common ground to resolve their respective constitutions and internal structure.
“This also needs the cooperation of all parties that have their own constitutions and procedures. We urge all parties to resolve this as soon as possible,” Hamzah said at a press conference in Port Klang today.
Hamzah also denied any knowledge of a general election happening this year, claiming the discussion was among senior ministers and the prime minister.
“I don’t know because I’m not a senior minister. Probably that is among the senior ministers and the prime minister.
“For me, I’m just a home minister who takes care of the people and the country’s security,” he said.
Hamzah said his main prerogative was to ensure people have faith in the PN government and Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s leadership.
“My main agenda is for the people to be confident with Muhyiddin’s leadership as prime minister. The PN government has a stronger coalition compared to the government previously,” he said.
The former Umno man, who jumped to Bersatu after the 14th general election, is said to be one of the key players to put PN into power in February. – July 6, 2020.
