THE Ministry of Health today reported five new Covid-19 cases, three of which were imported and the remaining two local transmissions.

Meanwhile, four people had recovered from the virus and been discharged, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah today.

This is the first time since June 28 there have been more new cases than recoveries.

“The three imported cases involve two Malaysian citizens and one permanent resident,” he said.

“The local transmissions are a pre-surgical screening case at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah and at a medical centre in Seremban,” he said in a statement.

He also said that only 77 people are in hospital receiving treatment for Covid-19.

Of this, Noor Hisham said only two were in intensive care needing respiratory support.

“This brings the total number of recovered cases to 8,465 or 97.7% of all Covid-19 cases,” he said in a statement.

There are also no deaths recorded, keeping the number of casualties at 121. – July 5, 2020.
