PUTRAJAYA has given the green-light to the Higher Education Ministry’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the reopening of tertiary education institutes.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the ministry had presented the proposed SOP during a special ministers’ meeting on movement restrictions to curb Covid-19 transmissions.

In the meeting, it was decided that Higher Education Minister Noraini Ahmad would make the relevant announcements in due course.

“The ministry will announce the details and reopening date of higher learning institutes,” Ismail Sabri, who is also defence minister, said at the daily briefing on the recovery movement control order (RMCO) today.

Another sector allowed to reopen is traditional medicine. This includes those performing cupping and post-natal massage services. Spas have also been allowed to resume operations.

Cinemas, theme parks and swimming pools have also been allowed to operate from today, following a decision by the Health Ministry and National Security Council.

Ismail Sabri also reminded Malaysians to comply with SOPs during recreational activity.

He also advised the public to stay home and not go out if experiencing symptoms. – July 1, 2020.
