DR Noor Hisham Abdullah said the body of an Indian national who died at the Bukit Jalil immigration detention centre will be released when the Health Ministry receives the full post-mortem report.
“Once we have the post-mortem report, we will release the body,” he told a press conference in Putrajaya today.
The Forensic Department has found that the 67-year-old victim had a lung infection, diabetes and high blood pressure.
“As I’ve mentioned earlier, the post-mortem results showed that there was a consolidation of the lungs. He might have had an infection; whether it was new or chronic has yet to be ascertained,” said Dr Noor Hisham.
“He definitely had an infection of the lungs, but he also had other comorbidities, such as diabetes and hypertension. Perhaps, these could’ve been the cause of death.”
The investigation into the cause of death is under way, and the ministry is awaiting swab test results for other viruses, he said.
The man died on June 12, and posthumously tested positive for Covid-19.
According to Malaysiakini, he was a stranded tourist. – June 24, 2020.
