THE Health Ministry is looking into a Covid-19 cluster involving an old folks’ home in Kuala Selangor, where a third positive case was identified.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said they had identified two positive cases after conducting tests on May 17.
“After finding the two positive cases, the rest of the workers and residents at the centre were screened and all tested negative.
“However, a third and new case emerged almost a month later,” he said at the ministry’s daily press conference in Putrajaya today.
He said the latest case is part of the 41 new infections today, after the patient was admitted to the Tanjung Karang Hospital two days ago.
Noor Hisham said this is the patient’s second screening as his first results came back negative.
“Active case detection is ongoing and prevention measures such as disinfecting activities are being carried out.”
He said to date, the Health Ministry has screened 421 old folks’ homes.
“We have identified 17,699 residents, workers, and caregivers.
“A total of 15,848 tests were conducted and 30 people tested positive for Covid-19.” – June 15, 2020.
