Malaysia records 41 new Covid-19 cases, mostly foreigners

MALAYSIA reported 41 new cases today, bringing total infections to 8,494. 

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the total number of active cases to 973. 

He said of the 41 new cases, three are imported cases, while 38 cases are local transmissions, with 32 involving foreigners while the remaining six are Malaysians. 

Noor Hisham said the bulk of new foreigners infected were those placed at the Malaysian Immigration Academy in Port Dickson and an existing cluster in Pedas, Negri Sembilan.

He said the academy housed detainees transferred from the Bukit Jalil detention centre following a Covid-19 outbreak.

He said no new deaths was reported today, keeping the death toll at 121. – June 15, 2020.
