THE Covid-19 bill will address issues, such as recouping deposits for cancelled wedding bookings, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“I understand that there are a lot of cases where deposits were forfeited. They did not cancel of their own will, but they had to be cancelled due to the government’s standard operating procedures (SOPs),” he told his daily press conference today.
The Covid-19 bill will be tabled at the next Parliament meeting in July.
“We can then resolve such issues,” he added.
He was responding to a question on what action could be taken against wedding service providers for refusing to reimburse deposits that run into the thousands for cancelled bookings.
Weddings, which frequently entail the gathering of large crowds, were prohibited following the enforcement of the movement control order (MCO) on March 18. – June 11, 2020.
