ISMAIL Sabri Yaakob reminded the public that the threat of infection from Covid-19 remained as the country enters the first day of the recovery movement control order (RMCO).
“We have to play a role in ensuring that the pandemic does not spread again. Compliance to the new normal and self-regulation is very important,” he said at the daily press conference on the Covid-19 situation in the country today.
“(Just Because) there is a relaxation (to restrictions) given, it doesn’t mean that we can be free and return to our lifestyle before the MCO (movement control order),” he added.
He called on community leaders to educate their communities on infection-mitigating measures as part of daily life.
Ismail Sabri said the decision to introduce the RMCO was made after taking into account the flattening infection curve and the need to re-open the economy.
He said that does not mean that the matter can be taken lightly as the virus can spread again.
Malaysia will undergo the RMCO from today until August 31.
Ismail Sabri said starting today, all citizens returning from overseas will be swabbed at the airport and those who tested positive will be sent to hospital. Those who tested negative need to quarantine themselves at home for 14 days.
Ismail Sabri announced on Sunday that government-run quarantine centres will close and that those returning from abroad need to isolate themselves at home for 14 days.
Ismail Sabri the 8,381 people at quarantine centres will finish their isolation at home, as all of them have tested negative.
But they must download the MySejahtera app to allow health authorities to monitor their health.
“Those who breach the compulsory quarantine and SOP will be fined RM1,000 or brought to court,” he said. – June 10, 2020.
