ROADBLOCKS will be taken down as police switch their attention to monitoring compliance with health and safety regulations in public places, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“Police will cease roadblocks except on routes to curb the entry of illegal immigrants,” he said today in a daily security press briefing.

“They will no longer be focussing on roadblocks but on compliance of SOPs (standard operating procedures) at public places, business premises, markets and so on.”

Police will also be keeping an eye on the rest and recreation stops.

More cars are expected to hit the road over the weekend on return trips to their hometowns to spend time with their families.

Ismail said the military will continue to assist the police in the compliance operation task force. – June 10, 2020.
