VIRTUAL clinics and home visits may be the solution for the Ministry of Health to reduce congestions at clinics and hospitals, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said the ministry was looking into ways to implement social distancing to curb the spread of Covid-19 at these facilities.

“We want to develop the use of virtual clinics among our patients and also deliver medicines to them without requiring patients to come to the hospitals,” he said in his daily media briefing today.

“So, the patient will not have to come to hospital or clinic.

“We are also looking into how we can bring our services to homes and communities such as those in longhouses,” he added.

Noor Hisham said home services were currently being provided for mothers and children.

On that note, the ministry is looking at ways to expand its virtual and home services to other patients, such those who are suffering from stroke or those who have transport problems.

“These are concepts we have proposed and are considering for implementation,” he added.

He said the ministry has also proposed dual shifts at health clinics and appointment systems as part of measures to implement social distancing.

Malaysia is set to implement the recovery movement control order from Wednesday until August 31.

Only seven new Covid-19 cases were reported today, the lowest since the implementation of the MCO on March 18. – June 8, 2020.
