19 new infections, 39 recoveries and no deaths

MALAYSIA today reported 19 new Covid-19 cases involving 11 citizens, said Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

This brings the national tally of infections to 8,322.

Noor Hisham said six of the 11 cases were detected in Selangor, including two cases during a screening in Dengkil and another two linked to a tahfiz school.

A detainee at the Sabak Bernam district police headquarters and a case at a factory in Pulau Indah were the other two.

Meanwhile, two cases were discovered in Kuala Lumpur and Sabah, and one in Negri Sembilan.

There were 13 locally transmitted cases and six imported cases. Eleven of the 13 local cases involved Malaysians while two were foreigners.

Meanwhile, 39 people have recovered and been discharged from hospitals as of noon today.

This brings the total number of recoveries to 6,674.

Active cases stand at 1,531, while five patients are being treated in intensive care units. None require breathing support.

No fatalities were reported, keeping the death toll at 117. – June 7, 2020.
