SIX positive Covid-19 cases at a Cheras apartment complex could have come from Hari Raya visits, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
According to Noor Hisham, to date, the ministry had identified three cases from occupants of the apartments and another three were non-residents believed to have been infected while visiting.
“Through active case detection, we discovered the positive cases from this cluster are family and friends of the first positive case detected there.
“This cluster is still under investigation, but it’s very likely that the transmission came from Hari Raya visits,” he said at the ministry’s daily press conference in Putrajaya today.
Noor Hisham said subsequent investigation and screening of the close contacts for the six infected people was carried out.
“So far 120 people have been identified and screened. There are six positive cases, 79 negative and 38 results are pending.”
He said that even though Hari Raya celebrations were for a month, he cautioned people to refrain from continuing to visit others.
“We want to remind the public that, although the celebrations are usually for a month, open house and mass gatherings are still subject to the conditional movement control order and are strictly prohibited.
“Therefore, we like to urge the people to stop their visiting,” he said. – June 2, 2020.
