BUDGET 2018 was passed in the Dewan Rakyat tonight without any opposition. It was passed at 8.45pm with a voice vote after the final winding-up speech by the Higher Education Ministry.
Finance Minister II Johari Abdul Ghani tabled the RM280.25 billion Supply Bill for its third and final reading.
It was passed by a majority voice vote after Deputy Speaker Ronald Kiandee put the Budget to the vote.
Unlike the tabling of Budget 2017, the opposition did not call for a bloc vote.
The prime minister had termed Budget 2018 as the “mother of all budgets”.
Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also called it an “election budget” ahead of the 14th general election which must be called by next August. – November 28, 2017.
