IT is up to the police to approve any requests for interstate travels during the conditional movement-control order (CMCO), said senior minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said such approvals are, however, not automatic, adding that such travels are generally prohibited under the CMCO.
He said this when asked if the government will allow interstate travel in a car for more than two people from the same place of employment.
“But these conditional approvals are not automatic. You must apply to the police first for permission,” he said in his daily press briefing in Putrajaya today.
Ismail Sabri, who is also the defence minister, said four members from the same family and home are allowed to travel in the same car.
Previously, the government had only allowed two people from the same family to travel together to purchase essential goods.
He added that more people from the same family are allowed to travel in the same car if the vehicle’s capacity is bigger.
“In a normal sedan, it is four peple, if the car is a six-seater, or an eight seater, then that many people from the same family from the same house can travel in that car.
“That is the SOP. If you are not from the same house, you can’t travel in the same car.” – May 31, 2020.
