THE Penang government today inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Doctor2U, the technology arm of BP Healthcare Group.
The partnership between the state and Ali Health Sdn Bhd, the owner of Doctor2U, will see Penang folk getting exclusive discounts for services on the Doctor2U mobile app.
The discounts, said state health exco Dr Afif Bahardin, would be available only to Penang residents via special promo codes.
“The promo codes are slated to roll out in the coming weeks, with more offers being planned,” he said at the signing ceremony at the Penang Tech Dome, Komtar.
Doctor2U started in October 2015 as BP Healthcare’s internal tech arm. It then grew into a comprehensive e-health ecosystem to serve Malaysians’ healthcare needs.
The app, with services like Doctor Home Visit, Video Consultation, Live Chat, Electronic Medical Health Records and Ambulance, has 3,500 active daily users.
The free app allows Penang folk to raise their medical concerns to qualified healthcare professionals, like doctors, pharmacists, nutritionists and psychiatrists, online.
Doctor2U is expanding in the Asean region. It is also available in Singapore and the Philippines, and will soon be available in Australia.
Present at the MoU signing was Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who earlier announced the first “Immersive and Interactive Exhibit” in the Asia-Pacific region at the Penang Tech Dome.
The new attraction sees multiple projectors and laser sensors being used to create multi-sensory environments, whether real or fictional, in a space occupied by observers.
The technology allows any space to be transformed into a fully interactive and engaging area for learning, and enables the simulation of different environments for training purposes.
In the UK, the system is used in schools for teaching, as well as in special needs education. It is also used to train hospital, emergency and security personnel.
The public exhibition is installed by Immersive Interactive, a leading provider of immersive spaces in the UK, and its Malaysian agent, Insan Saintifik. – November 28, 2017.
