A SABAH assistant minister has sued two Parti Warisan leaders for insinuating he had abused his power to accumulate personal wealth.

Sabah Assistant Finance Minister cum Bugaya assemblyman Ramlee Marhaban named Warisan’s vice-president Junz Wong and Youth chief Mohd Azis Jamman in the suit.

He is seeking RM10 million in damages and other relief, and an order to restrain both men from repeating the allegations.

The suit cited a social media post that detailed his alleged property and luxury cars, as well as an article published by the Borneo Post on November 15 titled “Who owns this house, luxury cars and private jet?”.

Ramlee filed the suit through his lawyer, Marcel Joseph. The court has set January 3 for a hearing.

In his writ, he said the contents of the news report and social media postings by the two individuals had affected his image.

Ramlee said the allegations insinuated he had abused his position as assistant finance minister to obtain wealth at the expense of his constituents, and was therefore unfit to be a state official and lawmaker.

The assistant minister is also suing the duo for trespass for allegedly flying a drone over his property without consent or approval from the authorities.

“The plaintiff has, in consequence, been gravely injured in his character, credit and reputation and has been brought into public scandal, odium, contempt and hurt in his feelings,” Ramlee’s statement of claim read.

On November 15, Wong and Azis said at a press conference that the palatial mansion in Putatan and luxury cars were Ramlee’s.

The fleet of cars included Lamborghinis, Ferraris and an Aston Martin.– November 28, 2017.
