Sarawak disaster committee chairman Douglas Uggah Embas says the committee is aware of the problem and is taking step to track down these people.– May 20, 2020.

HEALTH authorities in Sarawak are unable to track down 365 people in the Kuching division for Covid-19 screening.

Deputy Chief Minister Douglas Uggah said the state Disaster Management Committee, which he chairs, is aware of the situation and is making every effort to track them down.

Uggah did not disclose the reasons why they could not be traced or to the question if they are a danger to the Kuching community but he did say some of these people of interest have reportedly left the state.

“It is important that we continue to trace them,” he said in his daily Covid-19 briefing in Kuching today.

Uggah said one of the four state teams tasked with tracing 2,554 people for Covid-19 screening, could only find 86% of them.

He said 16 of them were found to be positive.

The task force is headed by former state health director Dr Jamilah Hashim.

Today, Samarahan district has now been declared a green zone after not having reported a single positive case in the last 14 days.

Uggah said Samarahan is now the 35th district in the state to be in the green zone.

Sarawak has 40 districts.

The remaining five, including the populous Kuching district, are all yellow.

Today is the seventh day the state reported no positive cases. – May 20, 2020.
