THE Sri Petaling tabligh cluster now accounts for 48% of total coronavirus cases in the country, after 972 patients under investigation are found linked to the group.
Director-General of Health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there are 3,347 infections in the cluster, up from the previously announced 2,375.
“This means the Sri Petaling cluster and sub-cluster contribute 48% of total Covid-19 cases in Malaysia,” he told a daily press conference on the virus today.
Reclassified data showed that the 972 cases are linked to the cluster, which has evolved into the fifth generation.
A total of 40,613 samples have been taken from the cluster so far.
Of the 3,347 cases, 2,915 have recovered, while 33 died.
Malaysia has recorded 6,978 coronavirus infections. – May 19, 2020.
