THE Health Ministry has identified a new cluster at the Solok Duku madrasah in Malacca where four of the 107 people are positive for Covid-19.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said two of the 35 students at the madrasah have the virus.
“As for the 10 teachers and staff, none of them tested positive.
“The other two cases were among the 62 family members,” he said at the ministry’s daily press conference in Putrajaya today.
Dr Noor Hisham said to date, 635 people from the madrasah and tahfiz schools have been infected with Covid-19, out of 12,384 who tested for the virus.
“We have identified 19,209 teachers, pupils and workers at madrasah and tahfiz schools.”
He said based on test results, the positive rate among these groups is 5.1%.
“As compared to the situation a week ago, the positive rate among these groups was 4.4 %.
“This trend of positive rate hikes is alarming because it shows the growing possibility of infecting others in this group.” – May 14, 2020.
