70 recoveries, 40 new Covid-19 cases

A TOTAL of 70 patients have recovered from Covid-19 and been discharged from hospitals, exceeding the 40 new cases reported, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

According to director-general of health, 5,351 people have recovered from the virus, while the accumulated number of cases is 6,819.

He said of the 40 new cases, 31 were foreigners while the rest are locals.

“Currently, there are 16 patients in intensive care, four of whom require respiratory support,” he said.

Dr Noor Hisham said one death was reported over the past 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to 112. 

He said a 39-year-old man who died had a heart condition and had been immobile after breaking his legs in a road accident early this year.

Dr Noor Hisham said the patient died on May 12 at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital emergency ward in Pahang at 9.52pm. – May 14, 2020.
