TWO Sabah students, who were infected with Covid-19 while they were on the peninsula, could have picked up the virus from workers at their university, said the Health Ministry today.

However, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah did not provide any details on which workers could have passed on the virus when confirming the cases today.

He also said the students have been separated and placed in quarantine.

“What needs to be done next is active case detection and the health ministry will conduct an investigation,” he said.

“We have identified the university and conducted tests.

“Even though the students have been in quarantine for four weeks, they could have been exposed to workers coming and going from the university,” he said at his daily press conference.

On May 11, Sabah reported a surge of 10 new cases, two of whom were university students returning from Peninsular Malaysia. – May 13, 2020.
