MYEG Services Bhd, which today announced itself as a one-stop portal for employers to facilitate the health screening of their workers for Covid-19, was never appointed for the task, the Social Security Organisation (Socso) said today.
“We have never appointed MyEG and all the appointment of vendors must go through proper due process.
“I have asked my audit team to investigate,” Socso Medical and Rehabilitation Department Head Dr Azlan Darus told The Malaysian Insight.
Health Minister Dr Adham Baba also told The Malaysian Insight that the appointment has not been approved.
“No. Never approved,” he said in a brief WhatsApp message.
MyEG, in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, said that it is offering a convenient one-stop portal for employers in Malaysia to manage the requirements related to the screening of their workforce for the Covid-19 virus.
Presently, employers registered as Socso contributors are eligible to have the cost of testing covered by the organisation’s Prihatin Screening Programme, including for foreign workers.
MyEG had said it would offer services from screening to certification as proof that a worker has been tested for Covid-19.
MyEG executive chairman Dr Norraesah Mohamad said a statement on the matter will be released soon by Human Resources Minister M. Saravanan.
In a separate statement to announce its filing to Bursa, MyEG said its portal is “an option for companies that wish to streamline the process of getting workers tested, providing employers with the necessary tools to register and receive confirmation of the eligibility of their workforce for the Prihatin Screening Programme”.
It said it is also partnering with a panel of Socso-registered clinics, through which MyEG can arrange for screening to be conducted on-site at work premises by trained medical practitioners.
It added that for workers not covered by the Prihatin Screening Programme, the cost of testing can be paid out-of-pocket.
“Upon completion of the screening in accordance with the specified guidelines, individuals will be issued with a digital certificate by MyEG in the form of a dynamic QR colour code on a mobile application indicating their test status for the purposes of verification.”
MyEG added that the digital certificate will be recognised by the Labour Department as proof of testing.
It also encouraged employers with workers who have already undergone screening to voluntarily declare their status on MyEG’s portal.
“The self-declaration is important to enable MyEG to better assist the Human Resources Ministry in updating the testing status of workers in the country,” it said. – May 12, 2020.
