OF the 25,156 foreigners screened for the coronavirus by the Health Ministry, 1,211 tested positive.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 495 of the positive cases are still receiving treatment in hospital.
“There are currently three cases in the intensive care unit and four deaths to date,” he said today at a daily press conference on the Covid-19 response, in Putrajaya.
The remaining 712 cases of infection have recovered, he said.
Dr Noor Hisham said 150 markets nationwide were under observation and the traders and workers would be screened.
“We have identified 29,850 individuals and we have tested 25,260.
“Of the total tested, 247 have tested positive.”
He said there are no new cases at the KL wholesale market in Selayang and in northern Kuala Lumpur .
“The area still remains at 197 positive cases while 83 cases are outside of the area under the enhanced movement control order.
“In Selayang Baru there are also no new cases with the total number of positive cases staying at 52 cases, 36 of them foreigners.”
The number of cases at the Jalan Othman market remains at 27 with no new cases while two cases have been detected outside the areas in lockdown,” he said. – May 12, 2020.
