THE Pakistani tabligh cluster in Tawau, Sabah has been declared free of Covid-19 infections today after passing a 28-day observation period, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The cluster had infected six patients, Noor Hisham told a press conference in Putrajaya today.
He said there have been no new infections in 28 out of 32 clusters nationwide.
The clusters that saw new infections were the Chow Kit market ,with 29 new cases over the past 24 hours, the Pesantren cluster (8), Cheras mall security officers (1) and Sendayan, Negri Sembilan (1).
No new virus cases were detected at the three active enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) areas.
The total number of cases at the Pusat Bandar Utara and Selayang wet market EMCO area remains at 197 cases, with 83 cases previously detected outside the vicinity. A total of 120 foreigners were screened.
In the Selayang Baru EMCO area, the number of cases remains at 56, with 36 detected outside the area. At Jalan Othman in Petaling Jaya, cases remain at 27 with 21 being foreigners.
No new cases were detected from the Sri Petaling tabligh cluster, which infected 2,345 people.
Yesterday, a total of 19,400 Covid-19 tests were conducted nationwide, Noor Hisham said.
A total of 70 new cases were detected over the past 24 hours, with 13 being imported.
Kuala Lumpur recorded the highest number of infections at 35 cases with four imported, followed by Negri Sembilan (16, eight imported); Sabah (10), Pahang (four), Selangor (three) and Putrajaya (one new imported case).
One new death was also recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s Covid-19 fatalities to 109.
The cumulative number of infections stands at 6,726 with 1,504 active cases. – May 11, 2020.
