Constituent told me of high AirAsia fare, says Bung Moktar

BUNG Moktar Radin maintains that AirAsia overcharges travellers during peak periods, saying the complaint had come from a constituent.

“Okay, I have said it. The airline cannot deny this fact – as a budget airline it must provide cheaper flights. But each time during peak periods such as Chinese New Year and Hari Raya celebrations, AirAsia is not cheap.

“They increase their fare to more than double (during festive seasons) and in Parliament, I made it clear that the peak period fare for a trip from Kuala Lumpur to Sandakan have reached close to RM2,000,” he said.

“Why not, the person was charged RM1,780. Isn’t RM1,780 is close to RM2,000?”

The Kinabatangan MP told The Malaysian Insight the expensive one-way trip happened during the previous Hari Raya festivities.

He also said AirAsia’s “hidden charges” were aplenty, including charging passengers for the use of wheelchairs.

“I also made it known that I am very disappointed when a passenger was late for 10 minutes and was told to buy a new ticket.

“Where is their (AirAsia’s) social obligation in times like these?” he asked.

Earlier, AirAsia chief executive officer Aireen Omar had denied Bung’s claim, saying the highest fare came around to only RM1,180 when operating on a 100% load factor.

She also said there were no “hidden charges” as customers had the option of choosing how they wanted to fly and what products they wished to pay for.

Group CEO Tony Fernandes also took to Twitter to lash out against MPs who criticised the airline. – November 24, 2017.

  • Bung you may be an ass hole , but you do speak out for your constituent. Not only speaking out but very loud enough to create an impact. You the man!!!!! This is so much needed as we can see most of the MPs are useless and a far cry in their responsibilities representing those who elected them. Again my salutation to your vocal justice but do cut down on your loud and blurr vulgarity. TF has got to act instead of palying taichi. Showing off the extravagance wedding only pisses off many in the know that the flashy and exorbitant wedding expanses are from their contributions in the high cost flying tickets. It is not "everyone can fly but everyone must contribute"

NO ONE is forced to fly on AA BUT according to your asinine comments, everyone MUST contribute! That idiotic "must" of yours implies ....ooops.....compulsion....how come, bodoh? You should be pissed off with your own absurd remarks. If only you can get your nose out of Bungs ass long enough. Yeccchh!
